    AILET Examination Information

    AILET (that is the All-India Law Entrance Test) is an examination that is conducted by National Law University Delhi. The exams are held in the month of May. The Examination is for students to get admitted in a five-year course of B.A LL. B program. The online applications for the AILET Exam are available on their official website from a given date.

    The Examination is usually conducted for both UG and PG level candidates. AILET is conducted once a year and in offline mode. The question paper is in English, so the Exam language is set as English and no other regional language.

    AILET Examination is an All-India level, a law entrance exam for getting admitted to B.A. LL.B (Hons.), LL.M, and Ph.D. courses. This exam is conducted on a national level by the National Law University, Delhi. Due to the programs offered, there is a wide range of courses available to choose from.     AILET Eligibility for different courses

    Only those candidates who meet all of the requirements for the AILET Entrance exam are eligible to take the exam. You may find a summary of the eligibility criteria for several courses here, which you should review before applying.

    Eligibility for B.A, LLB (Hons.) Course

    • General/OBC candidates must be at least 21 years old as of July 1, 2022, and SC/ST candidates must be at least 23 years old.
    • Candidates in their final year of their qualifying test can also apply for the AILET 2022 exam, but they must present their passing certificate at the time of the exam, which is required as part of the admission process.
    • Candidates must have received a minimum of 50% in their 12th grade from a recognized board.
    • Candidates from other countries must have a cumulative grade point average of 65 percent in the 12th grade. NRI candidates are not required to take the AILET test because they are eligible for direct admission if all eligibility criteria are met.
    • For GEN/OBC candidates, passing the AILET admission exam with a score of 40% is required (30% for SC/ST candidates).

    Eligibility for LLM Course

    • For GEN/OBC candidates, a minimum of 55% in LLB or its equivalent degree is required (50% for SC/ST candidates).
    • For admission, foreign national candidates must have a minimum of 55% in their qualifying degree and will be contacted for a personal interview to assess their English communication skills.

    Eligibility For Ph.D Course

    • Candidates who meet either of these requirements will be allowed to enroll in a PhD program.
    • A master’s degree in law from a recognized university is required, with a percentage requirement of 55% for unreserved category candidates and 50% for reserved category candidates.
    • For entrance to the Ph.D program, applicants must have a law degree and a master’s degree with an M.Phill in social science or humanities.
    • Candidates with a LAM and a Ph.D. in any field are also eligible for a doctorate program at NLU.
    • The candidate would be eligible if they have three years of experience as a judge in any Indian high court or supreme court.

    What’s New with AILET 2022?

    On June 16, 2022, the AILET 2022 Admit Card will be published. Candidates who have successfully registered for AILET 2022 can download their admit card from the official website, nludelhi.ac.in. AILET 2022 will be held in offline mode on June 26, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.

    AILET 2022 will last 90 minutes and will be conducted using pen and paper. According to the AILET 2022 Exam Pattern, the AILET BA LLB Paper will include 150 multiple-choice questions, while the AILET LLM Paper will have 101 multiple-choice questions as well as subjective questions. AILET 2022 will be conducted for a total of 150 marks.

    The BA LLB Paper will include questions from English Language, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, and Logical Reasoning, according to the revised AILET 2022 Syllabus. The Indian Contract Act, Law of Torts, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, and Legal Theory will all be addressed in the LLM Paper. 

    The AILET 2022 results are expected in the first week of July 2022. Following the announcement of the results, NLU Delhi will publish a category-by-category cut-off depending on which candidates will be admitted.

    AILET 2022 Admit Card

    • Soon after registration closes, the Examination Authority will release the AILET 2022 Admit Card via the university website in an online format.
    • With the supplied registration id and password, the applicant will be able to download their particular admit card.

    The following are the steps to download AILET 2022 admit card in a step-by-step manner:

    Step 1: Go to the AILET 2022 official website and look for the Admit Card banner.

    Step 2: The candidate must provide their name and date of birth, or the application number that was issued to them.

    Step 3: Print and keep a soft copy of your AILET Admit Card for future reference.

    On the day of the exam, all applicants must bring their admission card and one valid photo ID.

    AILET 2022 Exam Pattern

    Every AILET Paper has a different test format designed by National Law University: B.A.LLB, LLM, and Ph.D. The following is the AILET 2022 pattern:

    • The exam will be conducted in a paper-and-pencil format.
    • The question paper will be written in English.
    • The candidates will have one hour and thirty minutes to complete the question paper.
    • The question paper will have MCQs. Section 1 of the AILET 2022 LLM Exam will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions, whereas Section 2 will consist of two descriptive questions.
    • The examination will consist of 150 questions in total.
    • Each accurate answer will receive one point.
    • For each incorrect response, 0.25 points will be deducted.

    The exam format for Ph.D. entry at NLU, Delhi is significantly different from that of UG and PG courses. The first level will be an objective test based on Research Methodology and Legal Aptitude portions; the second level will be a subjective test based on Research Methodology and Legal Aptitude sections.

    AILET 2022 Syllabus

    To obtain a solid comprehension of the subject’s core, the student needs go over specific crucial subjects for each portion. The subjects and syllabus that students must study before taking the AILET Exam are listed below:

    The undergraduate entry syllabus includes English, Legal Awareness, Reasoning, Elementary Mathematics, and General Knowledge.

    • Reading comprehension passages containing grammar, vocabulary, and verbal ability questions are centered on legal subjects.
    • This section consists of rationally motivated findings and analytically grasping situations. Legal questions that do not require prior knowledge of legal questions will be asked as a result of the changes made to the BA LLB AILET Syllabus.
    • This area covers anything from general knowledge to current events.

    AILET 2022 Result

    • The university website, nludelhi.ac.in, will post the official AILET 2022 Results. The dates for the results vary depending on the course, and will be notified when the exam has been completed.
    • The findings are accessible in PDF format in the online mode. The University publishes the results for each category of candidates separately. Along with the findings, the AILET Cut Off list is also released.

    B.A LLB (Honours.) Criteria:

    AILET Examination Educational Qualification: Any candidate who has appeared for the 12th Board Examinations and has secured more than 50% in their aggregate is considered eligible to apply for AILET 2021 Exam. 

    It is important to take note of the fact that students who will be appearing for their 12th Boards in March or April are also considered eligible for the AILET Exam. Such students are required to provide evidence of their 12th Examinations passing during the time of admission. Candidates who do not provide this evidence at the time of admission shall not be included in the admission process.

    AILET Examination Age Limit: Considering the lower age-limit as 18, there is no upper age limit set for the Exam.

    LL.M Criteria:

    • Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess the LLB or an equivalent law degree from any reputed and recognized university.
    • Minimum Eligibility Marks: Candidates should obtain at least 55% marks (50% for the reserved candidates) in the qualifying exam.
    • For appearing Candidates: Candidates who are appearing for the examination in their last year of LLB are also considered eligible.

    AILET Exam Registration Process

    Following are the steps for registering for the exam

    Online Registration

    Interested candidates or guardians are to visit the official website of NLU Delhi i.e. nludelhi.ac.in./ for registering for the AILET. They are required to create an account by providing some basic information about themselves.

    • Selection of the Programme

    The interested candidates are to select the courses they are interested in and would be applying for. There are numerous courses, as the Exam is held for students for the undergraduate, postgraduate, and research levels.

    • Filling up the AILET Application Form

    Interested candidates are required to fill up the application form to almost getting over the procedure. The details that would be required to fill in are factors like category, nationality, preferred Exam Centre, own Address, Education Qualification, etc.

    • Uploading Images

    The next step would be scanning the images of the candidate’s recent photograph and an updated and clear signature of the candidate. This would be followed by the last step where the payment for the Application Fee is made. The payment could be done both through offline or online mode. 

    AILET Application Procedure

    Candidates who are interested in getting admitted to the undergraduate law courses that are exclusively offered by the NLU Delhi are required to collect and fill up the application form for the AILET Exam.

    Here are the steps a candidate or the guardian is to follow to get and fill the application form.

    • Students must register themselves online. 
    • Then, they are required to download the form and fill it up 
    • Along with submitting the application form, they are to upload other documents too
    • Payment is to be made for the application fee

    AILET Result Declaration

    NLU Delhi declares the AILET Examination Result online mode on the official website of the University. After the declaration of the AILET result, the selected candidates are called in for the counseling procedure. The counseling process is conducted only in the offline mode at National Law University, Delhi itself. There are no further chances of admission to be held once the spot-round counseling has officially ended.

    AILET Cut-off

    The AILET cut-off is the minimum score (rather than the last rank) that indicates the admission that would be provided to each category. NLU Delhi usually releases the category-wise AILET cut-off list for various programs under the university during the time of counseling and seat allotment procedure.
